Salesian feasts

The feast of Don Bosco

The month of January was very special to us salesians; as we celebrate the feast of St John Bosco which began with the holy mass presided over by  salesian father Gaspard where we were reminded as educators to love young people like our founder and to the young people to be humble and love work in order to have a bright future.

The feast of Mazzarello

The feast of St Mary Dominica Mazzarello was well celebrated by salesian father Jean Bosco Ntirenganya. He focused on love,  prayer, humility and to love creation.  It was also a gratitude day for the past pupils and for receiving the dipIomas. The day was very colorful with music, dance and giving gifts.

The mission

The main mission in Gisenyi is education both in the technical secondary school and empowering women. Our technical education offers different modules such as tailoring, food and beverage operation, service and culinary art. Our school is in close collaboration with the church,  participating in the diocese as well as in the parish activities.

This year, the catholic education department has given us the theme to reflect on and to put into practice “Umwana ushoboye kandi ushobotse  ”which means in English “Educate a child who is capable, with holistic education”   this theme has given the students the opportunity to be in touch with a journalist of Catholic TV (Pacis TV)  to share their talents, cultural presentation, competition of sports and academic performance.

CHARITY WORK AND ENVIRONMENTAL CARE

On the 2nd May 2023, there was a catastrophe of flooding  from the Sebeya River in Rwanda, which affected a good number of families and schools including the Minor Seminary in Nyundo Diocese.  We are in solidarity with them in their pain through different kinds of charity works. We also profit to take care of our “Mother Earth”.
