The Caritas Sisters of Jesus is one of the branches of the Salesian Family. The Novitiate house, located in Kira Mulawa, just opposite the Salesian Community of Namugongo CALM in Kampala was officially inaugurated on 31st/05/2023 during the Feast of the Visitation of the blessed Virgin Mary to her cousin Elizabeth. The ceremony started with the blessing of the house, which was led by the guest of honor, his Grace the retired Papal Nuncio Bishop Augustine KASUJA. After the blessing of the house, the Holy Mass followed, presided by the guest of honor and with other co-celebrants from different congregations, the Salesian inclusive. On the Salesian side, all the five communities present in Uganda were represented. However, many other congregations, especially congregations of sisters, were present. The ceremony also was attended by the builders who were present at the finishing stage together with their head Engineer, Mr. Derrick. After the Holy Eucharist, all the guests gathered together in the refectory for lunch. After lunch, the cake was cut, and the rewarding of gifts to the construction members followed. After gifts rewarding, the final blessing was given by Rev. Fr. Thomas OLOYA SDB as the Bishop had shortly left back to Lubaga-Kampala to continue with his retreat, which he had left for the mission.
It was a great success as everyone who attended was very happy. We pray for the sisters and for their mission to be a fruitful one.
