In his homily, His Eminence the Rector Major said the following: he was convinced that the Salesian mission in Palabek is Godsent. For this reason, he conveyed his admiration to the congregation, the provincial superior, and the AGL confreres for devoting their greater strength and commitment to this cause. He experienced firsthand the impact that our Salesian presence makes in the lives of those who require it. The Rector Major commented that as this is the province’s front-line mission, “it is a Salesian sin for a confrere to refuse the opportunity to reside and work here among these people of Palabek.” He is confident that Don Bosco is pleased with the work we are doing to support the youth of Palabek.
He prayed “May Mary Help of Christians and Don Bosco bless this mission now and in the future”.
The Rector Major, Fr. Alphonse Owoudou, and Fr. Pierre Celestin planted trees at the Salesian community of Palabek and VTC during this green age of the congregation, which was organized by the Palabek Green Club. He addressed the young people of Palabek once more, saying, “I was waiting for an opportunity to come and meet you. Our dream, the Salesian dream, is to work with youth. He saw that they were becoming more proficient in drama, dance, and music, which bodes well for their future. His Eminence declared, “When I get back to Rome, I will tell Pope Francis what I experienced while I was among you”.
Later on, while travelling to Kampala (Tuesday, May 7th), he said hello to his confreres and the Salesian family in the Atede-Gulu neighbourhood.
On this auspicious day, Brother Laurent Minani also celebrated his birthday.
