Although so far Uganda has been relatively spared by the Covid-19 Coronavirus pandemic, the Salesian community of Kamuli did not sit and watch what is happening around. Feeling concerned by this alarming situation that is threatening mankind globally and in a especial way many poor people living in Kamuli locked down for 30 days without any food assistance, the Salesians of Don Bosco filled with compassion have decided to share the little food (rice) from the students’ store out of solidarity with part of their staff, young people and a few families living in the neighbourhood who are suffering. At the same time, the community makes efforts to stop the virus’s spread through promoting initiatives of the community focused on prevention of COVID-19, following the guidelines given by the competent authorities. Therefore some equipment and tools have already been put into use such as masks, sanitizers, gloves, water, soap etc…for protection and washing hands. We are planning to do more for our people, neighbours, to be close to them in this difficult moment by sharing with them the donation the Provincial Fr. Celestin Ngoboka has granted our Community for supporting the fight against COVID-19. Once more we are grateful to Father Celestin for this gesture of charity and solidarity to our community. Thank you for showing your fatherly, caring and loving heart. May God bless you and bless our AGL.Province.
