“A Celebration of Skill, Faith, and Transformation”

NAMALIGA BOMBO – Saturday 8th November 2025 Don Bosco Vocational Training Centre Bombo held its 25th graduation ceremony. It was a colorful event that brought together students, parents, staff, and guests to celebrate years of hard work, skill and transformation.

The day’s festivities began with a solemn Holy Mass presided over by Rev. Fr. Simon Peter Kisamba, Rector of Nandere Minor Seminary and member of the Education commission in Kasana-Luwero Diocese. In his homily, Fr. Kisamba encouraged the graduands to “go slow but sure” in the competitive world of work and to always aim at perfection in whatever they do. His words reminded all present that the journey of success requires patience, integrity, and consistency.

The ceremony attracted several dignitaries who graced the function with their presence and words of encouragement. Among them was Br. John Njuguna, SDB, Deputy Director of DBTECH AFRICA from Nairobi Kenya. In his address he emphasized the importance of hard work and perseverance.

He highlighted the numerous projects established by the Salesians, including schools, hospitals, churches, and sports initiatives. He remarked that a child can now begin from nursery school and progress to employment without leaving Bombo town, thanks to the comprehensive educational structures set up by the Don Bosco institutions. The mayor concluded by acknowledging Don Bosco as a point of reference in the ongoing development of Bombo Town Council.

In his remarks, Rev. Fr. Jean Pierre Turabanye, the Principal of Don Bosco VTC, expressed profound gratitude for the successful organization of the event. He extended his appreciation to the civil, social, and technical partners of the institution particularly the Gender Matters for Green TVET project for their continued support. Fr. Turabanye also thanked the Salesian community of Bombo-Namaliga for their tireless efforts in education and youth formation. Drawing on the Gospel parable of the talents, he encouraged the graduands to use their acquired skills responsibly and creatively.

Adding a touch of humor to the celebration, Rev. Fr. Thomas Oloya Cyprian, Director of the Salesian community in Bombo, delighted the crowd by opening his speech with a lively reggae dance, exclaiming, “Graduands, let’s dance! Parents, let’s dance!” His energetic entrance lifted the spirits of everyone present. In his address, he expressed deep joy at seeing the students ready to serve society. He urged parents to remain involved in the education of their children, “Education of the young is everyone’s responsibility,” he emphasized.

The joyous day concluded with the cutting of the graduation cake and a communal meal, where all guests-students, parents, and staff shared in laughter, dance, and celebration. The atmosphere was filled with happiness, gratitude, and a strong sense of family spirit that defines the Don Bosco community.
