Don Bosco Vocational Training Centre Namaliga (Bombo) recently hosted an exciting inter-school sports encounter with St Joseph’s Vocational Training Centre Kamuli. The event brought together students and educators in a joyful celebration of talent, teamwork, and friendship through football, netball, and volleyball.
A Day of Joy and Brotherhood
The day’s games began with a warm welcome from the host community, reminding everyone that sports are not only about competition, but also about building character and mutual respect. The students approached every match with enthusiasm, discipline, and a spirit of fair play.
Moments of Passion and Excellence
The football match, always a crowd favorite, was a display of energy and skill. The Don Bosco Namaliga team showed great determination and coordination, earning an impressive victory over their visitors from Kamuli.
In volleyball, Namaliga once again displayed excellence, teamwork, and precision. The players worked in perfect harmony, sending the crowd into applause as they secured another well-deserved win for Don Bosco.
However, St Joseph’s VTC Kamuli did not leave empty-handed. Their netball team shone brightly with skill, agility, and confidence, defeating Don Bosco Namaliga in an entertaining match. Their victory was warmly applauded by everyone present.
Beyond the scores and trophies, this encounter reminded all present of the educational vision of Saint John Bosco, who saw sports and recreation as vital tools for forming the hearts and minds of the young. Don Bosco believed that “joy, prayer, and learning are the pillars of education,” and this day beautifully embodied that conviction.
At the end of the day, both teams gathered for a moment of prayer and thanksgiving. The day’s experience strengthened the bond between the two institutions.
As the sun set over the fields of Namaliga, one cheer echoed proudly across the grounds :
Don Bosco viva, Don Bosco viva, Don Bosco viva. A chant that captured the joy of a truly Salesian day.
