Dear brothers and sisters,
First of all, MERRY CHRISTMAS and HAPPY NEW YEAR 2025!
Since Christmas Eve, we have entered the Jubilee Year 2025 of the Church with the opening of the Holy Door of St. Peter’s Basilica in Rome. On the SAFCAM website you can find a Powerpoint presentation on the Jubilee of 2025 in English and French. It can help you better understand this important event and you can even use it to serve others around you in order to live well this favourable time in the Christian community.
From the 17th of November to the 7th of December 2024, Gerald offered his service as a translator in the meeting of the Novice Masters of the Congregation (SDB). It was a three-week training course held in Genzano, near Rome.
From 8th to 14th December Camiel participated in the annual retreat at DBYES. The beautiful spiritual retreat was led by Father Abel Njeru Thathi, Rector of the theologate “Don Bosco UTUME” in Nairobi.
From the 16th to the 23rd of December, Camiel was in Rwanda. From the 18th to the 19th of December, he led the formation of young Salesian priests of the AGL Vice Province at the spiritual centre of Don Bosco in Rango (Butare). He also had the opportunity to visit some Salesian houses.
On the occasion of Christmas, SAFCAM published number 15 of its bulletin, “end of year edition”. You will find the “SAFCAM Newsletter n. 15” on our website.
January 2025 will be entirely dedicated to the formation of the Rectors of Salesian houses in the Africa-Madagascar region. “The ministry of the Salesian Rector, animating and governing the community” will be the core area we will pay attention to in the meeting of the rectors according to the language groups. Indeed, from January 6th to 12th in English at DBYES Nairobi; from January 15th to 19th in Walkerville, South Africa (also in English); and from January 22nd to 28th in French at DBYES Nairobi.
In this year 2025, we have the opportunity to experience several important events: The Jubilee of 2025 “Pilgrims of Hope”, the Rector Major’s Strenna “Anchored in Hope, Pilgrims with Young People”, the 29th General Chapter of the Salesians of Don Bosco and the 150th anniversary of the first Salesian missionary expedition “give thanks, rethink, relaunch”. So many moments of grace!

Tout d’abord, JOYEUX NOËL et BONNE et HEUREUSE ANNEE 2025 !
Depuis la veille de Noël, nous sommes entrés dans l’année jubilaire 2025 de l’Eglise lors de l’ouverture de la Porte Sainte de la basilique saint Pierre à Rome. Sur le site web de SAFCAM vous pouvez trouver une présentation en Powerpoint sur le Jubilé de 2025 en anglais et en français. Cela peut vous aider à mieux comprendre cet événement important et vous pourrez même l’utiliser pour servir d’autres personnes autour de vous afin de bien vivre ce temps favorable dans la communauté chrétienne.
Du 17 novembre au 7 décembre 2024, Gerald a offert son service de traducteur dans la rencontre des Maîtres de novices de la congrégation (SDB). C’était une formation pendant trois semaines qui s’est tenue à Genzano, près de Rome.
Du 8 au 14 décembre, Camiel a participé à la retraite annuelle à DBYES. La belle retraite spirituelle était animée par le Père Abel Njeru Thathi, directeur du théologat « Don Bosco UTUME » à Nairobi.
Du 16 au 23 décembre, Camiel était au Rwanda. Du 18 au 19 décembre, il y a animé la formation des jeunes prêtres salésiens de la Vice-Province de l’AGL au centre spirituel de Don Bosco à Rango (Butare). Il a eu aussi l’occasion de visiter quelques maisons salésiennes.
A l’occasion de Noël, SAFCAM a publié le numéro 15 de son bulletin, « édition fin d’année ». Vous trouverez le « Bulletin SAFCAM n. 15 » sur notre site web.
Le mois de janvier 2025 sera entièrement consacré à la formation de directeurs des maisons salésiennes de la région Afrique-Madagascar. « Le service du directeur salésien, l’animation et la gouvernance de la communauté » sera l’objet de formation et de partage durant trois sessions pour de différents groupes de directeurs. En effet, du 6 au 12 janvier en anglais à DBYES Nairobi ; du 15 au 19 janvier à Walkerville, Afrique du Sud (également en anglais) ; du 22 au 28 janvier en français à DBYES Nairobi.
En cette année 2025, nous avons l’occasion de vivre plusieurs événements importants : le Jubilé de 2025 « Pèlerins de l’espérance », l’étrenne du Recteur Majeur « Ancrés à l’espérance, pèlerins avec les jeunes », le Chapitre Général 29 des Salésiens de Don Bosco et le 150e anniversaire de la première expédition missionnaire salésienne « remercier, repenser, relancer ». Voilà donc tant de moments de grâce !
