Just after his resurrection, Jesus commissioned his disciples to go and spread the Good News to all peoples in the entire world as Mathieu the evangelist reports in Chap. 28:19,
“Go, then, to the all peoples everywhere and make them my disciples…” These are the same words that Mgrs. Mathias Kanyerezi the Vicar General of Kasana Luweero diocese has used while canonically installing the newly appointed Parish priest of Our Lady Queen of Martyrs Namaliga Catholic Parish, Rev. Fr. Joseph Mwebe sdb, on 20th/11/2019 , the 29th Sunday of the ordinary time that the church dedicates to the missions. This parish was founded in 1986 by the first salesian missionaries in Uganda.
The entire Christian community was filled with great joy as since the foundation of the parish, no parish priest had been appointed from within the country. Therefore, Rev. Fr. Mwebe has entered into the parish history as he became the first Ugandan priest to be appointed to this post after 33 years of the salesian presence in Uganda. Rev Fr. Benard Popowski (Poland) became the first one, followed by John Marciniak (Poland), Gianni Uboldi (Italy), Lazar Arasu (India) Jean Marie Mushibwe (D.R. Congo), Callixte Ukwitegese (Rwanda), Gaudence Murasandonyi (Rwanda) and now Fr. Joseph Mwebe (Uganda).
On behalf of His lordship Paul Ssemwogere the bishop of Kasana Luweero Diocese, Mgrs Kanyerezi also confirmed over 600 youngsters and commissioned them as well to go and witness the Gospel in their words and actions.
May the good Lord help the salesian work progress in Bombo and in the world at large.
